The ‘customer service promise’ has been developed to give consumers
reassurance on standards of customer service. If the symbol appears
in a business’ advertisement, it has signed a declaration to comply with
the criteria set out below in relation to customer service. We consider
these criteria to be the rudimentary requirements of customer service;
- Response: All calls should be returned by a representative of the business within 24 working hours.
- Quotations & Tariffs: The bill should never be a surprise to the customer - quotations and tariffs should always be available in writing, with accurate descriptions of products/services, prior to the purchase or appointment with the exception of:-
a) Emergency Work
b) Work of an unspecified nature.
In these instances a rate per hour or other form of payment method should be stipulated in writing.
- Variation in Price: Any variation in the stated price or content should be notified to customers prior to commencement of that work except for conditions a) & b) in number 2 above.
- Appointments/Delivery Dates: Talk to your customers - In the event that appointments or delivery dates or goods/services cannot be met, customers will be informed at the earliest possible opportunity before the promised date.
- Complaints: Deal with complaints - its not the mistakes we make but how we deal with them, the business should have a complaints procedure in place.
- Terms & Conditions: Payment terms and trading conditions are to be clear and available prior to the point of purchase or appointment.
